Comet Software acquires Modul-Bio and Groupe Albatros

Paris, 18 December 2025 — Comet Software, Alpera Partners’ consolidation platform dedicated to B2B vertical market software, has completed the acquisition of Modul-Bio and Groupe Albatros, two leading software publishers serving highly specialised and mission-critical end markets.

These transactions mark a further milestone in Comet Software’s strategy to build a pan-European leader in vertical software, combining long-term ownership, operational excellence and close alignment with entrepreneurial management teams.

Acquisition of Modul-Bio, a mission-critical software provider for life sciences

Founded more than 20 years ago, Modul-Bio develops core software solutions for the management of biological sample collections. Its products are used by biobanks, cohorts, biorepositories and diagnostic companies, supporting complex regulatory, scientific and operational requirements. Headquartered in Marseille, with operations in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, Modul-Bio serves more than 300 laboratories worldwide and is recognised for its deep expertise at the intersection of software engineering and life sciences.

Acquisition of Groupe Albatros, a leading software group in specialised agriculture

Groupe Albatros is a group of software companies focused on viticulture-oenology, arboriculture and horticulture, as well as decision-support systems (DSS) for the sustainable management of pests and diseases in fruit and grape production. Based in Le Mans, the group supports over 2,300 customers across more than 50 countries, providing highly specialised tools to agricultural professionals operating in increasingly complex and regulated environments.

A disciplined and aligned build-up strategy

In line with Comet Software’s long-term industrial approach:

  • The management teams of both Modul-Bio and Groupe Albatros remain fully in place, continuing to lead their respective companies.
  • Sellers reinvest as co-shareholders alongside Comet Software, ensuring strong alignment with the group’s development.
  • The focus remains on operational continuity, product excellence and sustainable growth.

Sustained momentum and continued expansion

With 11 acquisitions completed over the past 18 months, Comet Software continues to scale rapidly. The group is currently in exclusivity with two additional software companies. Once completed, these transactions would bring the group to approximately 270 employees and c.€37 million in revenues.

Alpera’s long-term commitment

Alpera Partners is proud to support Comet Software in its continued expansion, with the shared ambition to build a leading European vertical market software platform, alongside outstanding entrepreneurs and management teams. Comet Software and Alpera Partners continue to actively explore new vertical market software opportunities across Western Europe.
