Alfeor, the new nuclear equipment supplier, today announced the completion of two strategic acquisitions: Traitements de Surface et Mécanique (TSM) and Les Ateliers de la Meuse (ALM). Both companies are recognized for their advanced technological expertise and high value within the nuclear sector, positioning Alfeor as a leading supplier to the industry’s major contractors.
Two subcontracting SMEs with advanced expertise and strong added value
Founded in 1972, TSM and its subsidiaries have established themselves as specialists in surface treatments and associated mechanical operations, protecting new and maintenance parts against wear and corrosion. The company masters innovative processes such as electrolytic treatment and thermal spraying, along with precision machining (turning, grinding, lapping, polishing). With one-third of its activity dedicated to nuclear, TSM also serves aerospace, defense, and industrial hydraulics, building a strong reputation for excellence and reliability with clients including EDF and Framatome.
Les Ateliers de la Meuse (ALM), founded nearly two centuries ago, are recognized for their expertise in large-scale boiler-making and machining, notably for the manufacturing of spent nuclear fuel containers, primarily for Orano. Their capacity to produce large equipment of up to 100 tons is acknowledged internationally. Beyond production, ALM also provides subcontracting and maintenance services for welded mechanical components, serving not only nuclear but also medical and energy industries.
Landmark acquisitions for a growing group
These acquisitions are part of Alfeor’s strategy to consolidate and grow SMEs, bringing together complementary expertise and technologies within a leading industrial group, from design to the manufacturing of advanced equipment. They add strategic capabilities in:
- Electrolytic and thermal spraying surface treatments to protect parts against wear and corrosion in high-demand sectors such as aerospace, defense, and nuclear (TSM)
- Large-scale boiler-making and machining, particularly for spent nuclear fuel containers (Les Ateliers de la Meuse)
Arnaud Montebourg, Chairman of Alfeor’s Board, said:
“With these first two acquisitions, Alfeor takes an important step in its mission to become a key player in the revival of the French nuclear industry. By consolidating its role as a leading equipment supplier, Alfeor addresses both energy sovereignty and the urgent need for reindustrialization in France and Europe.”
Eric Druenne, CEO of Alfeor, added:
“These strategic acquisitions mark a significant milestone in our mission to strengthen the nuclear sector. They reflect our commitment to invest in companies with exceptional technological expertise, essential to the safety and long-term future of our nuclear industry. With them, Alfeor confirms its position as an industrial group uniting SMEs in service of the nuclear supply chain.”
Antoine Auber, CEO of TSM, stated:
“Joining Alfeor opens a new chapter for TSM, securing the future of our company while offering our teams opportunities within an ambitious industrial project. It allows us to continue serving our clients with an expanded range of services and capabilities.”
Grégoire Metz, CEO of ALM, said:
“This partnership with Alfeor gives us the means to pursue new commercial ambitions, particularly in support of the European nuclear industry, while remaining true to our historic expertise.”
About Alfeor
Alfeor is a French industrial group investing in the acquisition, consolidation, and development of subcontracting SMEs in the nuclear supply chain. Its goal is to bring together high-value, high-precision expertise under the umbrella of an independent mid-sized company. Alfeor’s areas of expertise include boiler-making, machining, foundry, welding, additive manufacturing, valves, fasteners, forging, metallurgical and mechanical testing and analysis (including destructive and non-destructive testing), and more.
The SMEs that make up Alfeor master these skills and provide design and manufacturing capabilities for equipment serving both civil and defense nuclear sectors, as well as other industries requiring advanced subcontractors. Alfeor was born from the partnership between Les Équipes du Made in France (founded by Arnaud Montebourg) and Alpera Partners, with the shared ambition of contributing to the prosperity of a sovereign French nuclear industry.
